Jonny caught a'Roamin in the Gloamin...? |
|
Jonny Younger, the owner of TSS Clearance Ltd of Haddington, East Lothian recently sent us some interesting photos of his TL150HF track loader / FAE unit.
It can be seen here cutting large areas of gorse on some very steep hills, the Takeuchi TL15HF track loader fitted with the FAE UML/SSL/VT-175 'variable torque' forestry mulching head is uniquely good for this type of work due to the grouser type rubber tracks, the double reduction drive motors and the infinitely progressive servo controls, whilst the FAE 'variable torque' motor offers increased cutting power and instant rotor recovery, which means a higher production.
No other compact tracked loader / mulching head can offer all these features...!

BENEFITS OF MULCHING |
i) Mulching trees and shrubs is a good method to reduce landscape maintenance and keep plants healthy.ii) Mulch helps conserve moisture by up to 10 to 25% reduction in soil moisture loss from evaporation.
iii) Mulching also helps keep the soil well aerated by reducing soil compaction which results from raindrops hitting the earth; it also reduces water runoff and soil erosion. iv) Mulching prevents soil and possible fungi from splashing on the foliage, thus reducing the likelihood of soil-borne diseases.
v) Mulching helps maintain a more uniform soil temperature (warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer) and promote the growth of soil micro-organisms and earth worms. vi) Mulching aids the addition of organic matter and nutrients to the soil through the gradual breakdown of the mulch material and controls weeds by blocking the sunlight.
With the severe restrictions regarding Burning as laid down in “The Heather and Grass etc. Burning (England) Regulations 2007” the benefits of Mulching are vast by way of :-
1) Reducing labour cost through man hour expenditure.
2) Transportation cost through land sale materials.
3) Invoking the beneficial elements of Mulching as detailed above.

Government Grants for Woodland and Forestry |
With the fall in farming income, more and more farms and estates are looking at the income the woodland and forestry can provide. The government has recognised the large contribution that British woodland and forestry makes towards the countryside. Woodlands provide the following:- recreational benefits, a major part of our landscape, essential habitats for wildlife, an important part of the economy in providing employment and attractive long term use of land whether for diversifying an existing business or as an environmentally friendly investment.
|
Previously there were two woodland grants available through DEFRA offices to compensate landowners for agricultural revenues:-
The Woodland Grant Scheme (WGS) - gives grants to create new woodlands and manage existing woodlands.
The Farm Woodland Premium Scheme (FWPS) - is designed to encourage the creation of new woodlands on farms. Its objectives are to enhance the environment, to improve landscape and to provide new habitats as well as increasing biodiversity.
These have now been replaced by:- The English Woodlands Grant Scheme

Other grants are available for farms and estates for environmental stewardship schemes, these are available through Natural England. They are available for agri-environment schemes which provide funding to farmers and other land managers in England who deliver effective environmental management on their land.

New Simex PL45.20 Self Levelling Road Planer |
|
The new Simex PL45.20 self levelling road planer is specially designed for planing asphalt and concrete crusts, it also offers outstanding surface scarifying performance. It is ideal for mounting on skid steer loaders fitted with high flow systems, as well as hydrostatic drive loaders and backhoe loaders.
Independent depth adjustment on right and left-hand sides (can create sloped surfaces) which, combined with the self-levelling feature and (optional) transverse tilt damped system, allows:- 1) perfect levelling of planed surfaces, as no more height differences with side-by-side planing, 2) perfect planer grip in the presence of uneven grounds, pavements, rises and bumps.
To eliminate dust problems and increase tooth life Simex have designed a water tank which is built into the planer. Housed inside the planer, the water tank does not increase the machine's overall dimensions.
Heavy duty, high depth models are available upon request.

Cormidi UK luanch new model of high-tip tracked dumper
|
|
Cormidi UK is a rapidly expanding company distributing a range of compact dumpers. The machines are proving very popular primarily because Italian manufacturer Cormidi SRL - led by Armando Cormidi - is totally focussed on producing a range of highly innovative compact machines and is happy to draw on the experience and input of its UK distributor.
This help and guidance from the vastly experienced UK management team, working with the Italian designers over the past two years, has resulted in a global range of class-leading compact dumpers, developed to the demanding requirements of the UK and Ireland markets.
Said Keith Bradbury. "Cormidi UK is totally focussed on tracked compact dumpers and it not selling a mish-mash of unrelated products and services."
Cormidi now has a range of high quality, purpose-built machines with capacities from 500-1800kg, with standard, high-tip, or self-loader configuration. All Cormidi machines use an undercarriage specifically designed for the load-carrying dumper and do not ‘make do' with a readily available but unsuitable excavator undercarriage.

Kramer 750T proves ideal for Wiltshire Coal & Building Supplies Merchant |
|
A Kramer 750T telescopic wheeled loader has been delivered to a family owned coal and building supplies merchant based at Holt in Wiltshire by local dealer Roy Francis Plant Sales.
L.H. Arlett & Sons currently supplies up to 50 tonne of materials per day to the local community, including pre-packed coal to some 200 canal boat dwellers. Until the arrival of the new Kramer loader Artlett had been using an aging agricultural tractor with a 400 kg capacity bucket attachment but besides becoming increasingly unreliable it did not have enough reach to load high sided wagons.
With output increasing and a philosophy of providing a same day service, company owner Peter Otterwell realised the purchase of a new handling machine was a necessity, not a luxury. Following a visit to the nearby dealer and a trip to see a Kramer 750T in action an order was placed for a machine complete with a Loadmaster 9000 weighing system and ticket printer.
Commenting on his decision Mr. Otterwell said: “With some 40 years experience in this business I knew straight away that the 750T was the right machine for the job. Not only is it extremely stable and easy to drive but also has superb all-round visibility for maximum safety when working around our busy yard. Specifically equipped with a 0.68 cu m rehandling bucket, the Kramer unit now spends around four hours per day loading a variety of coal, sand, gravel and decorative stone products into Artlett's fleet of 1.5 tonne payload tipper trucks which have proved perfect for accessing small sites.
Powered by an oil-cooled Deutz diesel engine developing 44 kW (60 hp), the 750T drives through an hydrostatic transmission and features a maximum load-over height of 4510mm with its arm in the fully extended position. Like all Kramer machines the unit also features a rugged 4-wheel drive and 4-wheel steer system for outstanding on-site traction and manoeuvrability.

KramerAllrad's new 250 and 350 miniloaders: lightweight machines that offer more stability than competitor machines.
KramerAllrad have extended its 50 series and will be presenting their 250 and 350 miniloaders for the first time at the Bauma show. Stable, manoeuvrable and user-friendly – these are the most important features of the two smallest loaders produced by this wheel loader specialist. The machines will target agricultural, landscaping and gardening operations, but value-for-money will also make them of interest to rental fleet operators.
Both models will be available with a cab or a foldable ROPS bar and with a standard hydraulic quickhitch. Powerful auxiliary hydraulics and stronger engine versions will be optional (31 hp for the Kramer 250 and 37 hp for the Kramer 350) . Depending on legal regulations, the new miniloaders can be equipped with an optional lights package for driving on public roads.

The presentation of the world's fastest 9-ton mobile excavator, the neuson 9503, means that Neuson Kramer Baumaschinen AG is introducing its largest mobile excavator to date onto the market and completely revolutionising building site logistics. With the most efficient drive of its class (75 kW, 102 HP) the new, roadworthy model offers the most efficient “high-speed” mobility and enables maximum cross country movement, which puts an end to transport problems arising from “self-propelled drive“. The Deutz turbo diesel engine fitted to the 9503 already complies with forthcoming emission and noise protection standards. The unique, exceptional driving performance is made possible by the use of a sealed hydraulic circuit with maximum efficiency and therefore minimum fuel consumption. Another advantage of the hydraulic system is the automotive control of driving by means of pedals (similar to a car).
Specification
Operating weight: 9 –10 tons (according to configuration)
Engine/output: 75kW (102 HP)
Driving speed: 20 km/h or 40 km/h:
Maximum digging depth: 3.63 m to 4.23 m
Dumping height: 4.26 m – 6.2 m

Birmingham Metal Recycler Maintains Tidy Site Using Kramer 880 |
|
Redditch based company Craddock Metal Recycling has taken delivery of a new Kramer 880 all-wheel steering loading shovel to replace both an old loader and a conventional forklift. The new machine will be used to push a variety of ferrous scrap metal into heaps, ready for handling by a pair of wheeled excavators equiped with rotating grabs. In order to eliminate the problem of regular punctures the Kramer has been fitted with Watts Tyrefill and the customer has modified the bucket to ensure it pushes a wider path than the overall width of the machine.
|
| According to Adrian Craddock the Kramer 880 is suprisingly powerful for its size and copes exceptionally well with pretty much anything, he added, I much prefer the 4-wheel steering system found on all Kramers to the more usual articulated chassis layout because it provides greater manoeuvrability and visiabilty - critical factors when working around the confines of this compct and busy site. |
The Kramer 880 is the largest wheeled loader in the extensive Kramer range and is power by a Deutz turbocharged and intercooled diesel engine developing an impressive 90 kW (122 hp), the machine weighs in at 8500 kg and offers a maximum payload and loadover height of 4200 kg and 3530 mm respectively. |

Restoration Specialist Buys The First Kramer Telehandler In The UK |
|
The very first Kramer telehandler to be sold in the UK has recently been delivered to Heritage Restoration Ltd of Melksham in Wiltshire to help on a major 3 year contract to restore a variety of buildings on Spye Park Estate in nearby Lacock. Once the decision had been taken to buy rather than hire a machine company MD Rob Cavill arranged for three different telehandlers to be tested on the 1000 acre estate over a two month period by three operators.
|
| Commenting on the trials Mr Cavill said "as it turned out there was no contest - all three operators much prefered the Kramer as it easily outstripped the competition for its overall driveability as well as providing by far the best digging performance with the front loader bucket". |
The Kramer 4009 telehandler featured here has full hydrostatic drive with one multifunctional servo lever for all moving and lifting operations, it has the ability to lift payloads of 4 tonne to a height of 9 metres without deploying outriggers, the impressive lifting capacity has been made possible by the choice of Kramer's optional chassis levelling system which ensures total safety, even when working on uneaven ground.

Cormidi UK set to expand and dominate compact dumper market

|
| The launch of the purpose-built 6.50 High-Tip tracked compact dumper at this year's SED clearly signalled to customers and competitors alike, that Cormidi UK has its sights set on dominating the UK compact dumper market. |
Almost 40 of these machines have been sold in the last three months and is one of the major reasons why UK sales have doubled since last year. The 6.50 High-Tip has also been chosen by Hire Centre and is being introduced into the hirer's vast depot network. But perhaps the most important reason is that Italian manufacturer - Cormidi SRL - led by Armando Cormidi, is totally focussed on producing a range of highly innovative compact machines and is happy to draw on the experience and input of its UK importer. This help and guidance from the vastly experienced Cormidi UK management team, working in tandem with the Italian designers over the past two years, has resulted in a global range of dumpers, but developed to exact UK specifications and requirements. |

August 2006

Please see below a testimonial we received with pictures from one of our ground clearance customers. |
 |
|
To whom it may concern,
During August 2006 I ask Roy Francis Plant Hire Ltd (Melksham) to clear a very overgrown walled garden (pictured above) that had not been cleared for 30 years. The area is exactly one acre and included different levels and slopes
The growth consisted of saplings and brambles that had grown to about 12 feet. Plus grass and nettles in excess of 5 Feet.
The machine Roy Francis Ltd used was a KYOEISHA HAMMER KNIFE MOWER
This machine made very short work of the job and reduced everything down to a fine mulch.
Roy Francis did not ask me to write this letter but I was so impressed with the machine (and his staff) that I want to recommend it to anyone who needs ground clearance work done.
Tim Crowden, The Old Rectory, Claverton, Bath. |
